At the helm of multiple fashion enterprises, Tamil Robinson has forged an internationally recognized brand development organization, emerging as a trailblazer in the field of original textile designing and fashion forward ready to wear. Raised in Newark, New Jersey, Robinson attended the prestigious Arts High School where he began to develop the creative identity that continues to characterize him today. His impressive artistic talents, whether employing pen and ink, airbrushing or watercolor, oil and acrylic paints, all underpin his unique designs.
After attending interior design school, where he discovered his love of textiles, Robinson moved abroad to China to learn more about the branding aspect of the business and work closely with fabric mill’s cut and sew factories. His long term apprenticeship, with a master pattern maker, further developed his skills and enabled him to establish his emerging brands in the world of fashion with his own distinct identity.
Robinson has achieved success with his enterprises: TRG (Tamil Robinson Group), and The House of AMIAT (All Moods In All Textiles), RCONIC Collections by AMIAT and T.A.M.I.L. by Tamil Robinson Haute Couture Label & BESPOKE by Tamil. Robinson is currently mentoring a team of students at the esteemed Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. He is also actively involved in various outreach programs throughout the United States serving underprivileged young adults interested in pursuing a career in textiles and fashion; displaying his commitment to social advocacy and the importance of giving back.
In the fall of 2016, a mutual acquaintance introduced Robinson to Kim Widener, founder and CEO of WovenWell, LLC. The two began to collaborate on evolving and refining her vision for WovenWell’s mission of a profit for good business model. This has led to the development of a fashion line inspired by combining Widener’s humanitarian efforts with Robinson’s expertise in the world of textiles and ready-to-wear fashion design.
